Maybe I was too hopeful and read too many positive reviews.
But honestly, just a poor quality ratchet strap and some home depot tubing.
Bulky, not enough room to work on your string just to fix a peep sight. Slips up and hits your cams, bar is so stiff to move around. Biggest pain to set up 😅.
I’d save my money on this and go to a shop a few times or spend it on the EZ press system instead.
Just remember, it’s a ratchet strap. So when you’re done you need to pop it off. Loose string, bent limbs just slamming tight? I don’t like that one bit.

I bought it because others said they were able to use it without issue on their crossbow. I was able to use it to replace the string and cables on a CenterPoint gladiator whisper 405 crossbow, though as others said, it was a little tight due to the size of limbs and axle to axle distance. Shot it a few times and all seemed great. 2nd day out hunting and one of the limbs cracked and snapped off right where one of the rubber covered rods had been placed. Luckily I didn’t get whipped in the face with the string. Can’t guarantee it was because of this “press” but that’s my guess based on the location of the break. No instructions on how to use it, so I watched multiple videos of the same ratchet strap style presses and followed all safety precautions. Could have been a design or material flaw on the bow itself. Who knows. Just be careful if you use this on a crossbow.

I was able to restring my bow and crossbow on the plus side. Overall it wasn’t too difficult after practicing with it on an old low weight bow. The strap could be better as others have mentioned, but it did hold up during my application. The instructions are weak, and I could only find them in the product description. A slow release is doable, but it’s not too intuitive, and I don’t know if I did it the way the manufacturer had intended it. The product is so so, after using it, but I was able to get my strings and cables replaced, and items like sites installed without too much effort and expense. I will be using it again for bow tune-up. I did upgrade my rating since the unit is holding up. Tip: Make sure to take a bunch of pictures of your bow or crossbow string/cable setup, otherwise you’ll wish you did.

This is the second portable bow press that I have bought. And, I have to say, this is definitely an upgrade to the steel cable type presses. I made the mistake of going with a cable style press before buying this press. The cable press I bought snapped in two as I was taking the string off to put a half twist in it to line up the peep sight. Needless to say, I’m now missing about a third of my thumb. Because when the cable press snapped, my thumb got pulled in between the string and the cam. Effectively cutting off my thumb between the nail and the knuckle. The first thing I did was replace the strap on this press. I went with a 4,000lb breaking strength tubular webbing strap. I have the utmost confidence in using this press going forward.

Works great!

I used a cable wire bow press to repair my bow, it broke during the adjustment period. Got this a month later, far better. Definitely room to improve this item, but it easily handled the adjustments I needed. Constant tensioning/untensioning as I tweaked timing.
I run an 80# draw weight compound bow, and frankly the biggest issue I had was that the bow press lever arms kept twisting to one side or the other, they would not stay centered and straight.

A quality vise that actually safely as well as correctly compressed the bow and allowed me to change the strings. Highly recommend.

Worked on my 390Dagger by Centerpoint. It’s a lil fussy until you figure it out. But it did the job on my xbow

This portable bow press it 100% worth the money. Ignore the negative reviews based on the release of the ratchet. They have a release bolt in line with the strap. The bolt has about 4 inches of total travel, which was plenty of travel for me to totally release the pressure before opening the ratchet. So no slamming open what so ever.
The other problem I have seen talked about is, the press wants to walk up the limbs and contact the cams. I took two lengths of paracord, tightened the press ends just enough to hold them centered in place on the bow, then tied the press to the riser at each end with paracord. This will not allow the press ends to move upward and contact the limb.
Overall these things worked just perfectly. They already paid for themselves in stringing one bow. Plus who can trust bow techs at big box stores anymore.
