I have been involved in archery for 40 plus years. In that time I have used a number of releases; some good some not. Carter’s have typically been my go to release in various models. The Chocolate Addition is a handful, which is best for me as I have large hands. The adjustability is very good allowing me to set my weight and travel to my set up. Some reviews mention the cost, but Caters are a moderately priced release. Others cost 70 to 100 dollars more without as much adjustability. Over the years I have learned to buy the best you can
afford. Put it this way; ‘ Buy once cry once’. Get one, you won’t regret it.

I’ve had mine for just about a year now. Up until then I had used a wrist release. When I switched to the Carter I noticed a huge bump in accuracy, especially at distances past 50 yards. I shoot solid groups out to 75 yards now. The market is full of different styles of these releases, but I had always heard great things about Carter. Which one you pick is going to be up to you, but this one is really good. I wish I could of tried the 3 finger one. Just to see what the difference felt like. Solid piece of equipment. I shoot a lot when I go out. Sometimes close to 100 arrows a day, and this has held up to the challenge. I get that the price might be high for some, but it is worth it. It does not feel like a cheap release. Feels like quality. I’d buy again in a heartbeat, and probably will end up buying another, or just another style of Carter.

Switched from a wrist release (spot hogg wise guy) & I have to say I’m so happy I did..Not only does this release help eliminate target panic that comes with shooting a wrist release & using your index finger…It’s also highly adjustable! I was shooting the best groups I’ve ever shot at 40 yards this past weekend after only having the release for 3 days. Its also easier to find your anchor point & hold full draw in my opinion. Carters simply the way to go. I like the 4 finger option as well- it allows the user to use 3 or 4 fingers depending on what feels comfortable for you. I’ll be using this release for bow hunting season coming up in October. PS i’ll never go back to a wrist release!

i made the switch to a thumb style/ back tension release a few months ago and thanks to several companys no hassle 30 day returns i was able to try out several releases to get a feel for them. I started out with some of the cheaper models and brands cause i didnt want to spend a whole lot of money but i finally was convinced to spend the money and go with a high end release and i am so glad that i listened. The crispness, comfort, and available adjustments that you can do on this release are awesome. Ive been hunting and shooting 3d for a long time and i have never felt as confident as i do with this release in my hand. worth every penny in my opinion. I have larger hands so this four finger model fits me perfect. If the price scares you away from this release, bite the bullet and spend the money… you will not regret it.

This is my first trigger release that is currently replacing my wrist wrap release. I cant even imagine going back to a wrist wrap style release again. This is the most smoothest, ergonomic, and customizable trigger that’s probably out there. You can set it for right or left handed setup, since im left handed this was a must. I was worried about the price but honestly it isn’t a piece of junk plastic you get from a sporting goods store. Metal parts and high quality finish is here, and it comes with multiple springs to change the tension to fit your tastes, along with wrenches to adjust trigger travel and tension. I decided to get the four finger model instead of the three just for extra grip, but I can imagine getting much more models along the years from Carter. When I called them with questions about this release, they picked up in two rings of the phone and knew the product backwards and forwards. Very personal touch. Im loving the chocolate!!! Get it you wont regret it if you’re serious about archery.

I’m not easily impressed with gadgets, but this one I really like. Replaces my ‘old’ wrist strap, fits as if they took my hand as a mould. Hooks easily onto the d-loop. Crisp releases. Together with the QAD Ultra-Rest Drop Away, I got at the same time, my accuracy has improved big time.
If I have to come up with something negative:
– I had to use some loctite on the little allen bolts on the trigger, they came loose twice and I didn’t dare too tighten them too much. No biggie.
– Also I wouldn’t have complained if it had been a bit cheaper too.
