   If you’re hesitating to buy this line like I did Dont it does supercharge you’re single hand fly rods.
   I have some Maxcatch shooting heads there good and cheap but the integrated running line is great on the commando .
   Watch some videos about casting this line .
   I’m still learning how to cast with this line system .basically start out with a dynamic Roll cast and it shoots .
   One tip do not try and false cast this line too much you’ll have problems.
   Pick it up and shoot or single spay or roll cast it.
   150 grain line with 40grain 7’floating tip on a
   8’6” 3 weight . No overload issues if you call OPST the manufacture, they will answer your questions.

   This line is a blast. Like stated if you like skagit casting and or want to get into it, this line is perfect it can do everything with just a switch of a tip. It overhead casts like a beast one back cast and that’s all you’ll need. Doing your single and double speys on a shorter single hand rod feel like a breeze I will say It’s my favorite line I’ve ever owned. I’ve had nymphing lines by airflo bass lines all that but this line dominates. Fun, versatility, and just shoots line. Swinging for smallmouth bass on a 5wt woo it’s too much fun

   Great for warm water fishing, it lets me fish places i otherwise couldn’t with a fly rod. If you like skagit casting, and stripping streamers as much as swinging them, buy this line. I only wish the running line floated better, but if i learn better line management it wont need to.

   Right out of the box I could see that this line was well made and not some run of the mill cheap line. The loops at each end appear solid. Yard casted a few times with a single hand 6 wt F/A rod and I was impressed even without an anchor to help roll cast. I think Im sold even without hitting the water yet. This line will mainly be used for warm water fishing of smallies and LM bass in tight quarters with little to no room for a back cast.

   I’m used to Wulff Ambush lines, so it took me a bit to get used to. If you keep blowing anchors, slow down or use a 10ft Rio Replacement tip. Once you get the hang of it, it’s an excellent line that casts very smoothly. You loose a little bit of distance in your casts, but the excellent line handling makes it much easier to fish tighter in. Overall, I prefer it to the heads for trout fishing where stripping the head into the guides is normal. Add a floating tip and it can be used as a scandi for swinging soft hackles.

   I have the Commando regular with backing line on one of my 6 wt fly rods but wanted to try the Commando Smooth on my 4 weight Echo switch rod. So far its doing ok. With trees, riverbank with no place to backcast the spey casting is fun and great way to fish. Try these on your regular 9 foot rod, its super fun. OPST has a weight chart for your rod weight.
