   When I started, you basically had Muzzy Chisel-tips and NAP Thunderheads. Now, there are more choices than many of us have hairs on our head. I am biased to the Thunderheads, but this year decided to try the Wasp Havalon. It’s basically the tried-and-true Muzzy, but the blades are a joint venture with Havalon knives. I have yet to see how they perform in the field, but I can say all three heads in the picture fly near identical to field points, which is very important. With modern equipment, this is becoming less of a concern, which is great. Based on what I’m seeing so far, I would recommend this head, but the real test will be how they perform in the field.

   I’ve been a big fan of Muzzy for many years and have killed several P&Y bucks with them. When I read Wasp teamed up with Havalon I knew I had to give them a try. One of my buddies is a big fan of Dead Meat so I ordered both. The Dead meat fly as good as field points, I love that they give you a practice point (Are you listening Wasp) that being said, I decided to use one of my six Wasp points in a trial between the Dead Meat and Wasp. The results were shocking. I shots six times with each point and six times with field points into a new block target at 30 yards. Shockingly, the Wasp flew better and straight than the Dead Meat and the field points. As far as penetration goes they were approximately equal. Not having a lot of experience with a mechanical broad head, and having heard a few horror stories with other brands , I’m a little apprehensive to use the Dead Meat and will opt for the 100 G Wasp. They do come with a set of replaceable blades so I should be ready for an encounter with a big Kansas Whitetail.

   I swapped from mechanical to fixed blade this season after losing well hit deer. This head was very accurate and shot just like a field tip. I killed my first deer last week with one, I hit some shoulder bone, it passed clean through the deer. Very wide wound channel, no problem finding the deer in the dark. I feel very confident with these fixed blade heads. The fact that you get spare blades is also great although I can not tell my first one has been used despite bone, deer and 12″ of dirt. Recommend them.

   I finally had to join the crossbow crowd… shoulder just can’t handle the old compound bow I’ve used for years. Heard good things about the Wasp HV and so I bought a pack. They shot almost exactly the same as my field tips using a Killer Instinct Ripper 415. got zeroed in and went hunting. Had a big ole’ buck come in on me (7pt. / 183 dressed). Got a good shot placement and that monster didn’t go 50 yards. Solid blood trail. Sliced ribs going in and out .. didn’t even phase it… damn blades were still sharp. I’m hooked, just ordered more.

   So I watched all the reviews of this awesome head, it went right through a Sherman Tank without a mark on it. So I bought them, first shot into a 3d target a blade bent, shot it through a 1/4 inch plywood like they do on all the tests. The Trocar tip folded over. I don’t know how they claim the results they do on these tests but these things were junk! Might be ok for a squirrel or rabbit but that’s about as far as I’d go with them. Called Wasp customer service, they were rude and unwilling to help. Thumbs down!

   These are the real deal. Did a lot of research before purchasing. I had a doe jump forward on me as I released my arrow. It cleared through her back right hip bone and clear through her left hip bone. Shattered both of her hips into pieces. She dropped in her tracks. I was fortunate for the broad-head doing its job. Blades were still sharp and no nicks or damage after the kill either. You won’t regret purchasing these.

   I haven’t harvested an deer with these yet but they fly awesome. I used wasp sharpshooters last year to harvest a solid buck and since these were marked down in price figured I’d try em. Looks like I’ll be using them next fall, fly awesome, really sharp, tough blades (YouTube videos) and come with replacement blades.

    Love the sharpness and the changeable blades but I cannot shoot these anymore. For me they shoot almost 8+ inches high versus field points, for a test I switched to grimm reaper using the same arrow and it was dead on. Wanna love these but be wary
