   I’ve never had a compound bow or even used one.. but when I looked for the best price,best compound bow for beginners.. this was number 1.. which it came with arrows, quiver, lighted sight,carry bag, allen wrenches,and couple things I haven’t a clue.. bow and everything that comes in the kit.. looks to be good quality and I’m happy with that.. my only issue is no instructions on attaching everything to bow.. no instructions on the carry bag.. it has lots of velcro strappes but not sure how it goes.. plus no breakdown on what everything is .. I has to look for videos online to figure some stuff out.. but they were not showing everything concerning this kit. Plus you go online to register and download manual..it’s the same manual you get with kit.. no info on the stuff I mentioned.. plus if you go to the manufacturers website.. you can buy it for 199.00 and not 229.00.

   Let me start off by saying I am absolutely not an expert archer. I was already familiar with bows and shooting fundamentals prior to my purchase, but this is the first bow I’ve actually ever owned / fired. After reading and watching several reviews on this set and similar sets, I decided to go with this one due to its popularity and overall positive feedback. I received mine about a month ago, but waited until I fired it a few times to leave a review. For anyone on the fence about buying this, I’m going to break down my full experience as a novice to archery, and how I feel about each accessory that comes with this set. I’ll also leave a TL;DR summary at the bottom. Bow: First and foremost, the bow. Being my first bow, I’m not 100% sure what to look for. However, it looks exactly like any other compound bow you’d find on the market, and was extremely easy to set up and adjust. All it takes is a few Allen keys (which are included) to mount the sight and rest. These Allen keys are also used to adjust draw length and draw weight to your liking. To date, I’ve fired about 150-200 arrows out of this thing, and the bow itself hasn’t shown any signs of failing anytime soon. No cracks, no fraying strings / cables, no sticking cams, etc. They’ve really put a lot of effort into making this bow affordable, yet comparable to high end bows. Sight: The included sight is really nice. Has a level on the bottom and a blue light attached to it that you twist to turn on / off. Even without the light, the pins are highly visible and glow at dusk with a heavy overcast. The whole sight is highly adjustable with the included Allen keys. You can adjust both horizontally and vertically, and even adjust each pin individually. No complaints with the sight. Arrow Rest: This is one I had a big issue with, and had to reach out to Sanlida for. During my first day of firing, I shot about 50 arrows to practice / zero in. No matter how much I tried, I could not hit consistently on target. And then I realized that the whiskers on the bottom of the rest had already started breaking and stopped supporting my arrows. Not only was it knocking arrows off course, but it was making contact with the fletchings each time, and began to rip them off. I ended up losing 8 of the 12 arrows due to not knowing where they landed, and the other 4 that I was able to retrieve have had their fletchings ripped off entirely. I reached out to Sanlida and provided the same pictures posted in this review. They responded very quickly and gave me a $20 refund, which I used to buy a cheap drop-away rest. Equipped with the new rest, my shots are now firing true as seen in the photos. So, I would strongly recommend that you buy a different rest to put on your Sanlida bow before taking it out on the range. Arrows: As mentioned above, the fletchings on the included arrows ripped off after just one session. I only have 4 of the arrows left, and they’ve all lost their fletchings. The tips also come loose after every single shot, which is really annoying. One of the reviews I watched on YouTube prior to buying my bow recommended that I purchase different arrows, so I’m glad I did and saved myself the time. Release Aid: I’m still not sure if I wear this thing the way it was intended to be worn or not, but it does its job. I’ve cinched the strap down as far as it can go, but I still find myself straining a bit to reach the trigger. Maybe I’m just wearing it wrong, but there are so many different styles to these release aids, I’m not sure which way is right. I haven’t had any issues with it releasing when pulling the trigger though. Quiver: I watched a tutorial on YouTube for setting up and installing the quiver. Seems to work well, but I personally don’t use it. So far, I’ve just been setting my arrows on a table and grabbing from there, but I can see the quiver being useful for hunting. Bow Stand: It’s not incredibly stable, but it works if you need to temporarily stand your bow up. It’s a simple spring-loaded piece of plastic that clamps to the bottom limb of your bow. Arrow Puller: Comes with a bright orange rubber thingy that’s labeled as an “arrow puller”. I haven’t used it in the field, but I assume it’s to make it easier to pull arrows out of the quiver. I tried this while setting my bow up for the first time, and it works this way, but I don’t think it’s really practical or at all necessary. Carrying Bag: The carrying bag is nice. Has Velcro straps to secure each accessory and a divider in the middle to separate the bow from the accessories. Small zipper pocket that I’m using to store the manual and Allen keys in. The only issue I have with mine is that the snap buttons on the divider don’t snap. Not a huge deal. Conclusion (TL;DR): For the amount of money they are asking for compared to the costs of other bows, this is an absolute steal in my opinion. Yes, there are some quality control issues with some of the included accessories, but the bow itself is fantastic! Sanlida’s customer service was also easy to work with. While I do recommend buying a different arrow rest and arrows before taking this out to the range, you really can’t beat the quality of this bow for the price.

   I received my Sanlida Dragon X 8 compound bow kit in June of 2003 and while I was immediately impressed with the bow and accessories I decided to wait until I got to experience it’s performance before writing a review.
   It’s now 6 months later and after hundreds of arrows down range I can honestly say I have no regrets, in fact, the club members I often shoot with ( all have way more experience and skill than I possess ) tried the bow and ranked it’s performance comparable to their high end expensive bows.
   I am so impressed with the Sanlida product that I am seriously considering the purchase of their Royal X8 recurve @ 55# and try my hand at traditional archery

   Sorry in advance for the long review, but I am enjoying this bow and you may also. Do not let the words “Beginner Package” in the ‘color’ selection dissuade you from purchasing this bow. This is a bow that is an extremely capable bow and can be used by a beginner to an advanced user. I do agree with the word “beginner” as this is a bow you can start out with and grow into and customize to your liking. I had been looking for a decent and affordable bow for some time and read lots of reviews and watched lots of YouTube videos. All the compound bows meeting my criteria came in around $399 to $499 price range, some of them with dated technology as they have been on the market for years. While at my local archery store, in their indoor archery range, I almost purchased one of those bows. Back at home I watched some more YouTube reviews and came across a couple showing the Dragon X8. At first, I was skeptical but watching several videos on YouTube and reading the gosszy.com reviews I was convinced, the Dragon X8 was the bow for me. Now that I own it and have been shooting it for a while, I am glad I waited and purchased the Dragon X8 and saved over $200. It shoots every bit as nice as the bows twice the price. The only difference is the other bows have vibration dampening on the limbs and the string and the Dragon X8 has none, so the more expensive ones are slightly quieter. This can be easily fixed and is subjective. My bow with a cell phone in my shirt pocket tops out at 115dB. I added some TwistLox split limb dampeners that reduced it down to 110dB. Other archers near me said the bow sounded quiet to them, but I think I will add some string silencers to make it even quieter eliminating the sharp but short-lived ‘twang’ from the string. Some things that make the Dragon X8 stand out; it has a dual yoke cam system to help prevent cam lean and the draw length and draw weight is easily adjustable. In addition, you do not need a bow press to work on the bow like swapping out the peep sight, add string silencers or other adjustments that can only be done without the bow under tension. Merely use the supplied hex wrench to adjust the limb tension down to nothing. It is straightforward to assemble and install all the accessories, set the draw length, and draw weight. Note: you will need to download the instruction manual at SanlidaOutdor.com. If you have questions on how to tune the bow there are excellent videos by Sean’s Outdoor Adventures channel on YouTube that will help. Comes with 5 pin sight that works quite well, a hostage arrow rest, D-loop, and peep sight already installed. Buy it for the bow and if you are just starting out in archery the accessories are a bonus and allow this bow to be usable out of the box. Well… almost, it does not come with arrows or a release so make sure to order those separately. They do provide hex wrenches for all the components of the bow. This bow is a great platform to be customized to your needs. Note: the sight illuminates, before you put the light onto the 5 pin sight you need to open the battery compartment and remove a clear plastic disc at the bottom of the battery holder that prevents the light from turning on during shipping. If you are an archery veteran looking to upgrade to a modern high-performance split Limb dual cam compound bow; do not let the affordable price scare you off. Buy it and add on your high-performance accessories from your old bow to this one. You will be hard-pressed to find new or used bare-bones (no accessories) compound bow this good for the price. For those of you concerned about customer service from a manufacturer based in China, they have been very responsive to my emails and questions on their product. The bow I received had an issue with the peep sight. Using the email provided on a customer satisfaction card that comes with the bow, I reached out to Sanlida Archery. I was informed that I received a bow with an early production peep sight that has since been updated, “… we have changed the peep sights for the future shipments…” Sanlida Archery was prompt and courteous in their responses to me and quickly resolved my peep sight issue to my satisfaction. From my experience with them, I would say they care about their customers and stand behind their product. This bow was well worth the price, very easy to set up, and one of few you can back off tension and unstring without a press. And no, I am not with Sanlida Archery and they did not pay me for this review. Just wanted to share my experience on a product that has great value for the price.
